Following the procedure, you may experience some swelling and bruising. Within the first two to three weeks, this will start to gradually lessen. The lower lip may experience some numbness following lower jaw surgeries. A residual patch of numbness may persist in a very tiny percentage of patients. Similar to a dental injection, this just affects the feeling in the lips and does not impact how they move. After the procedure, you must rest for two to three weeks. Consequently, you should prepare to miss at least that much of your time at school or at work.
